This garment is cut & sewn in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The factories our supplier works with are certified by GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) a high level certification which independently certifies working conditions and environmental management. They are also certified by FairWear Foundation, an organisation seeking to improve working conditions in garment factories. They produce public independent reports on factories including corrective action plans, acknowledging that they are on a journey with factories when improving pay and working conditions. Our supplier has been labelled a 'Leader' by FairWear Foundation for continuous improvements year on year. They have a team in Bangladesh who visit the factories, giving assurance of quality control and also working conditions. We have seen photos of the factory and spoken to a member of the team who visited describing it like walking into a German factory in Bangladesh.
The use of organic cotton is better for farmers and their families health as it does not use highly toxic pesticides in production.
Although our supplier reports that average wages in their factory are higher than minimum wages in the region, we would like to see the implementation of a living wage in their supply chain.
We would also like to see the introduction of recycled polyester in their products and we have been informed that this is planning to be introduced in 2019.
