The literal meaning for Kopfkino is 'head cinema'; but the actual meaning of this German combination of Kopf (der Kopf - head) and Kino (das Kino - cinema) is the cinema that is played out in your head when fantasizing. 'Könnte Szenen einer blühenden Phantasie enthalten'. May contain scenes from a wild imagination. Enjoy the film!

THE ETHICS

The Brand Story

Idioma are run by mother and son Halle and Seth Banks based in Ipswich and London.

They started in 2011 with the aim of enhancing foreign language learning and cultural awareness through visually appealing design. Their first product was a colourful multi-lingual table mat designed for children, and all those young at heart, to learn world languages.

Now their clothing line looks at unique and interesting words, phrases and symbols from world languages and reworks these concepts with innovative designs and illustrations. The ultimate aim of Idioma is to create an international brand with a cultural and social purpose.

Organic Cotton

Organic cotton is better for the soil, the farmers and their families due to the damage that can be caused by chemicals used in conventional cotton production. The organic cotton used for this garment is certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard.

Recycled Polyester

Recycling polyester makes good use of plastic waste, helping to reduce the need to create new plastic.

The Factory

This garment is cut & sewn in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The factories Idioma's supplier work with are certified by GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) a high level certification which independently certifies working conditions and environmental management.

Their factories are also assessed by the Fair Wear Foundation who produce a report on the supplier each year. They have been awarded 'Leader' status by Fair Wear for continuous improvements year on year. They have a team in Bangladesh who visit the factories regularly.

Screen Printed in London

This garment was screen printed in London.

Where Idioma can improve?

Idioma's supplier only selects factory with added wage benefits for workers such as child care, medical care, performance bonuses etc. However, we would also like to see an increase from the legal minimum wages in the factories towards a higher "living wage".

Water based inks are a more environmentally friendly alternative to commonly used plastisol inks. Idioma use water based inks to screen print part of their collection, however we'd like to see these inks used across their full collection.
