THE ETHICS

The Brand Story

“A bottle of wine, Hamburg, summer 2013. That‘s when we first had the idea to come up with an eco fashion label. It was a personal need. “Why is there no stylish, sustainable and affordable fashion label?”. We couldn’t find one.

And if you can’t stop thinking about it, you don’t stop working for it. We love fashion AND our planet. We don’t want the first to harm the second. It took us over a year to actually start JAN ‘N JUNE. But the minute you’re in it – you’re in it. 150%. No excuses.

Of course it wouldn’t have been us without some self-inflicted decisions to make things even more complicated. What can we say? Let’s start a business and build it up while living in three different countries. Nothing’s impossible.

So here we are now. We have beautiful and minimalistic sustainable clothing, tons of determination, ups and downs and little by little building our baby to make the world a tiny bit better – with some sustainable attitude and for sure with style.”

Anna and Jula, Founders of JAN N’ JUNE

The Factory

This garment was produced in Portugal near Porto in a factory employing 52 people. The factory is certified by GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) a high level certification which independently certifies working conditions and environmental management.

JAN N' JUNE also personally visit their factory in Portugal twice a year.

Organic Cotton

Organic cotton is better for the soil, the farmers and their families due to the damage that can be caused by chemicals used in conventional cotton production. The organic cotton used for this garment is certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard.

Where JAN N' JUNE can improve?

JAN N' JUNE do report that their factory pays living wages - a wage high enough to cover a families basic needs, which is often higher than legal minimum wages. However we’d like there to be an independent or internal audit assessment in place to verify this.
